My exhibition ALGAE, presents an exploration of underwater worlds and the hidden life forms that dwell within them. Inspired by the phenomenon of algal bloom and imaginary sea plants, my work blurs the boundaries between reality and imagination, inviting viewers into a realm where the two coexist seamlessly.
In this series, I imagine objects as the result of an exchange between the tangible and the fantastical, creating sculptures that resemble living organisms in constant interaction. These pieces go beyond simply reflecting the world around us, they reveal non-existent possibilities, offering a glimpse into an inverted reality.
As I work primarily in ceramics and polymer clay, covered with reused textile fibers, I meticulously craft the delicate textures and intricate forms of my creations. The tactile quality of these materials imparts a lifelike presence to the sculptures, capturing the fluidity and organic nature of underwater life.
Each of these pieces embodies the ephemeral beauty and eerie tranquility of algal blooms, portraying a delicate balance of life beneath the water's surface. My sculptures, created in my atelier on an island outside of Gothenburg, Sweden, reflect on my deep connection to my surroundings, bringing forth an imaginative world that challenges our perceptions of reality.
