CLAY IN TRANSIT

Collection Apart,

Stockholm May 2023

Clay in transit represents the passage of time and the impermanence of the material world. I here explore the structure of decay with interpretations of putrefaction, mould, erosion, and the ongoing mutation of nature itself.

Sculptures are created in stoneware ceramics, formed into ergonomically inclined objects. An exploration of materials meeting, pewter melting, and clay collapsing creating the illusion of movement and the halt of time. I here push the boundaries of the materials, attempting to master and control the collapse. A way to find the impossible balance. A three dimensional montage of conjoining disparate parts. Gathered from diverse sources and combined and arranged to suggest quiet moments of reflection to the world around us.

The sculptures are presented together with plinths, hand crafted in reclaimed Swedish birch wood by MatsonMarnell.
